POSITION: Human Resources (HR) Manager    

COMPANY:  Craven Dunnill Group

REPORTING TO: Finance Director

CONTRACT: Part-time Role [20-25hr/week, min. 4 days]

This part-time role would assist the Managing Director and Finance Director in managing the overall provision of Human Resources services, policies, and practices for the Craven Dunnill Group of businesses: Craven Dunnill & Co Ltd, Craven Dunnill Jackfield, and Craven Dunnill Tiles for Specifiers.              


  • Developing and implementing HR strategies and initiatives, aligned with the overall group strategy
  • Bridging management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances or other issues as relevant
  • Advise managers on the terms and conditions of employment and knowledge share best practice with them
  • Help to maintain and promote a happy and productive working environment for the whole team


Training & Development

  • Identify areas that require attention and improvement in training & development
  • Working with Logistics and Distribution Manager to develop and introduce a rigorous training agenda for all warehousing and delivery staff

Induction Process

  • Work with Managers to formulate new starter procedures and induction programmes for all business areas

Recruitment, Retention & Wellbeing

  • Manage recruitment and selection process, with specific responsibility for recruitment channels and campaigns (to include LinkedIn)
  • Ownership of the succession planning process to ensure future-proofing of the business
  • Support and care for employee emotional health and wellbeing, implementing programmes and procedures to manage stress and address concerns in the workplace

Performance Management

  • Review and assess current performance management practices, and work with Managers to plan, monitor and review employee work objectives to promote and improve effectiveness


  • Strong communication & interpersonal skills
  • Experience at management-level in a human resources-related position
  • Ability to build rapport quickly with employees across the business
  • Commercial awareness & business understanding
  • Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of UK employment legislation
  • Sensitivity in handling confidential issues


  • 5+ years’ experience in Human Resources
  • Demonstrated expertise training managers and employees
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking and communications skills
  • Attention to detail and good judgement

This role would be based at the Company head office in Bridgnorth. The part-time hours have some flexibility, although would need to be spread across a minimum of 4 days per week. This can be discussed at interview stage.
