Lovingly hand crafted, truly three-dimensional cast décor tiles in a choice of 8 colour glazes giving a unique stained glass appearance. Combine with complimentary dado and skirting to create a striking wall surface with character and texture.
We aim to supply tiles with all of the qualities of the great 19th Century originals. Please therefore treat your tiles with the same care and respect as you would the originals.
It is essential that the following matters be considered prior to the commencement of any tiling project, as claims cannot be entertained once the tiles have been fixed.
Shading and variations in size are inherent characteristics of all wall and floor tiles; therefore before fixing it is essential to lay them out in good light, to ensure an acceptable blend of colour and size.
If glazed these tiles may craze with time; therefore in this respect no guarantees can be given.
In common with Victorian originals and other reproductions, highly glazed dark colours with a high oxide content such as Laurel Green, can sometimes develop a metallic sheen or stain after contact with water, detergents, acids or alkalis (including but not limited to, lemon juice, shampoo and some cleaning products). These colours should not be used in areas where contact with such substances may occur.
Metallic Print and Lustre – Due to the precious metal content of these printed tiles, great care should be taken whilst cleaning (see below). Care is also required during installation to prevent scratching of the tiles particularly when grouting. We recommend using a protective sealant, such as BAL Protective Sealant prior to fixing.
Waterproofing – Only tiles that have been treated with a sealant at the time of manufacture are recommended for use in very wet locations, such as showers. The waterproofing of tiles is an optional service at the time of order.
Our tiles are not frost-proof.
Floor Tiles – Prior to fixing we recommend that a suitable Impregnating Sealant be applied to all Encaustic Tiles to prevent staining.
All wall tiles are designed for decorative wall and fireplace use (not including heavily used hearths). We cannot guarantee their suitability for any other applications.
Cleaning – Tiled surfaces should be washed down using either clean water or a non-abrasive, neutral (i.e. not acidic or alkaline) detergent.
Dry off and polish with a clean dry cloth.
