If I am looking at natural marble, stone or slate do I have to seal the tiles?
Yes, as these products can have varying degrees of surface absorbency they must be sealed before putting into service to avoid staining. The normal procedure is to seal the tiles once they are fixed prior to grouting, and then seal them again after all grout residue has been removed.
How can I remove grout residue from the surface of the tiles?
You will need to use a cement residue remover such as HG Extra or HG marble cement film remover for natural products.
Can you use floor tiles on the wall?
Floor tiles are suitable for tiling onto most walls, although weight restrictions relating to the substrate will need to be considered before fixing. However wall tiles are not suitable to use on floors.
I am worried that floor tiles will be cold underfoot?
We stock an electric under-tile heating mat that is mains powered and controlled by a thermostat for maximum energy efficiency. This system is suitable for both wooden and concrete floors.
